Monday 9th September

Welcome to this week’s blog. We are very sorry about the diaries and we have been assured that they will be sent to school by early next week.

Please remember that our Induction meeting takes place on Wednesday evening at 3 pm. At this meeting you will learn routines and facts about your child being in Year Three and Four.

RE

In RE we will be starting a new topic called PEOPLE.

This week we will be learning about family trees, virtual family trees and real family trees. We will also be talking about our different relations.

The children will be thinking about Jesus having a family just like we do.

MATHS

In Maths this week we will be putting the children into their Math’s groups.

This week we will be reviewing all different concepts and practising counting forwards and backwards.

Wednesday 4th September

Welcome to a new academic year and a very short week. We are sure all the children are excited and raring to go. For the first few weeks we will be having our induction weeks when the children will review school routines and rules of the classroom. The children will be participating in lots of circle time activities getting to know each other again. Details of Parent Induction meetings will be sent out very soon. Your child will need their PE kit this week and all uniform labelled with their names on. We encourage the children to bring in drinks of water into the classroom and we don't allow juice into the classroom for safety and health reasons. We will be stating new topics this week. This week we will be tasting different fruit juices and making up a rain forest fruit drink. The children will be designing a poster to advertise their product.

RE

Monday 24th June

Welcome to this week's blog spot. Thank you for all your support last week during out two day inspection. The children were excellent and we hope to have the report soon.

SPORTS DAY On Tuesday morning we will have out clock sports weather permitting. If the weather is so bad it will be on Wednesday morning instead. The children have abeen asked to wear a teeshirt of their team colour.

This week we will sort out the homework and spellings so homework can go home. We were a little busy on Friday and will hopefully get back into our routine. This week we are having an eco week and will be completing lots of work related to this. The children need to bring in a juice carton because they will be making purses and wallets by weaving the carton.

This week we will be reviewing and learning all about telling the time. The children need to be able to tell the time to the nearest minute in analogue and digital time. We will also be learning about the 24 hour clock.

MATHS - Mrs Sarsfield

This week the children will be learning about number, square numbers, factors and multiples.

ENGLISH

This week the children will be learning about report writing  still. We will be relating it to the rain forest and also to an assembly on REPTILES we are having this week.

TOPIC /IPC

We will be relating our work to eco week and also the rain forest.

Welcome to this week’s blog. Homework will start at the end of this week for the final few weeks of the term.

MATHS

This week we are starting a new topic on AREA AND PERIMETER.

The children will be finding out how to find the area by counting squares and also by multiplying the width x length of a shape. We will also be finding the perimeter of shapes.

This week we will be starting to learn about REPORTS. We will be looking closely at newspapers and how they are organised. By the end of the week the children will be writing a report.

TOPIC- Saving the world.

This week we will be learning more about rainforests: We will be learning about the different fruits of the rain forest. We will be observing and drawing the different fruits. We will also be thinking about the conditions needed for growth in the rain forest. We will be planting some seeds too. Also we will be learning about food triangles and how food triangles all start off with a green plant.

Monday 20th May 2013

Welcome to this week’s blog spot. Normal spellings with sentences etc have been sent out and due to be handed back in on Thursday.

This week the Year 4 have a busy week. They are visiting church for a practice on Monday morning. Don’t forget the service at 6.30pm Thursday at St Joseph’s church.

On Friday they will be having their photo taken and also be having a party. They need to come into school dressed in their communion outfit. They will need to bring their own clothes to change into too. Also they need to bring in food for the party. Children in Year 4 who are not making their communion can join the party and come in their own clothes.

Remember that swimming has now finished too.

All the children will have a mental maths test and a written paper too.

This week we will be learning more about rainforests: animals, insects and habitats. We will also be finding out about the people of the rainforests and the products that we use form the rain forest. Did you know at least one ingredient of all medicines comes from a rain forest!!!?

RE

We are continuing with our topic CHOICES. The children will be exploring all different choices. Good and bad consequences of our actions. We will be thinking about the story of the Prodigal son and also be thinking about the sacrament of reconciliation.
