Monday 19th May

Welcome to this week’s blog spot.

The children should be working on their current  project homework which is on ADVENTURERS AND EXPLORERS. Lots of children have mentioned that they have done lots of exciting things and we are looking forward to seeing the projects  too. If you need a copy of the homework scroll onto previous blogs. As the weather is really pleasant this week please make sure that your child has a hat and sun screen on or with them. Thank you.

Test week –this week the children will be having tests in:

 Maths
 Reading
 Writing.

Monday 12th May

Welcome to this week’s blogspot. The children should have come home with new spellings stuck in their diary. They will be tested on them next Friday. Also the children should have brought the next homework project home which is on ADVENTURERS AND EXPLORERS. 

See below on previous blog. The homework can be brought in the week  of Monday 19th of May to 23rd May or the week after the half term holidays as this half term is so short.

Please remember that sacramental preparation is on on WEDNESDAY NIGHT and the children need to bring rosary beads. Thank you.

Test week – next week the children will be having tests in Maths, Reading and Writing.

RE New Life
Come and see
In RE this week the children will be learning all about Paul. They will learn about his life before and after he met Jesus. They will learn all about Paul’s life and how he travelled around spreading God’s word.

ENGLISH
This week the year three will be doing lots of activities related to improving their writing.

We will be focusing on narrative writing and looking at level four and level five pieces of writing.

The children will be practising their writing and self checking and per checking their pieces of writing.

The children will also be answering a range of comprehension questions that have beem compiled by the teachers.

MATHS  Mrs Harding/ Mrs Morgan
This week the math’s groups will be reviewing lots of different topics as next week is the end of year tests. We will be completing mini tests on the A3 revision homework sheet that was sent home the week before last.
We will be reviewing:

·         Division with and without remainders
·         Addition with carrying
·         Subtraction with exchanging a ten
·         Area
·         Perimeter

MATHS MRS SARSFIELD
This week Mrs Sarsfield will be reviewing lots of topics too in preparation for the tests next week.
They will be reviewing:

·         Four rules of addition, subtraction, dividing and multiplying
·         Shape
·         Area
·         Perimeter
·         Fractions
·         Measurement

TOPIC
This week we will continue  studying two Spanish artists called Gaudi and Picasso. The children will be looking at different pieces of work and try to represent their own interpretation of the artist’s work with different media available.

PROJECT HOMEWORK SUMMER TERM ONE

This half term’s topic is Adventurers and explorers.

The topic is about adventurers and explorers past and present.
The children can research famous explorers such as Sir Francis Drake, Roald Amundsen or Neil Armstrong or special missions or journeys. The children could write a story or diary of an explorer.

Examples of work:  A long story with chapters (chapters, pictures linked to the topic of adventurers and explorers,  power points, large posters, models, map work, written reports,, songs, videos, news  etc.
Your child will be expected to give a short presentation/reading their story to the rest of the class to show their finished product, during the last week:

Monday 19th of May to 23rd May OR THE FIRST WEEK BACK AFTER THE HOLIDAYS AS IT IS SUCH A SHORT HALF TERM.
