Monday 29th September

Welcome to our blog.  Well done to all those children who read at home and also who had a comment in  their diary. We are giving a raffle ticket out to everyone who has read three times each week. There will be a small raffle at the end of the week.

Homework was given out last Friday and your child should have brought home:

A list of spellings for the whole half term
A list in their diary of spellings.
A homework book.
A maths sheet task one.

Please remember that the children have five activities on my Maths to be completed before the end of term.

Swimming is on every Tuesday. We have seven weeks left.
Thank you to all the helpers and we look forward to seeing you.
We can only go swimming if there are enough adult helpers.

Please remember that no bikinis or long shorts.
Year 3 leave at 12.40pm and will be back for 3pm.
Year 4 leave at 1.40pm and will be back for approximately 3.30pm.

This week the children will be continuing with addition and subtraction. The children will also be working on their timetables.

We will be learning about more about VERBS. We will also be starting to write dictations. This is when the children have to write down what we are saying.

We will also be learning more about HISTORICAL STORIES.

Homes
The children will be continuing with the RE topic HOMES.  We will be looking at John’s gospel and how he talked about love.

Also the children will be making up a recipe poem for an ideal family,

Mrs Harding’s class will be starting to plan an assembly on homes.

THE STONE AGE
We will be continuing with our new topic THE STONE AGE. The children will be learning about HOMES.  They will be looking at the different homes.





SCIENCE

We will be continuing with our topic ROCKS AND SOILS. The children will be learning about how rocks are formed. They will be learning about the different types of rocks.

Homes
The children will be continuing with the RE topic HOMES.  The children will be making a leaflet about how to live in family life. The children will be thinking about an ideal home and be making a thanks giving prayer for their family.

THE STONE AGE
We will be continuing with our new topic THE STONE AGE. The children will be learning about people and also cave paintings. They will be creating their own cave painting too.






SCIENCE

We will be continuing with our topic ROCKS AND SOILS. The children will be learning that some rocks are permeable and some rocks are impermeable.

Monday 15 th September

Welcome to our blog and thank you for taking the time to read it. 

Homework will start at the end of this week. It will be sent home and will be collected in the following Thursday.

This week the children will be learning about rounding to the nearest 10, 100 and 100. Also the children will be learning about negative numbers.

In English this week the children will be learning about capitals letters and  full stops again.

The children will be completing a reading comprehension, learning about words with soft c in them. and will be writing a letter and using a volcano setting as a stimulus. The children will be editing the letter too to improve their writing.

The children will be continuing with the RE topic HOMES. The children will reading Paul’s letter to the Romans and relating this to family life. The children will be choosing words and phrases from the passage. The children will be making a leaflet about how to live in family life.

THE STONE AGE
We will be continuing with our new topic THE STONE AGE. The children will be learning about why it was called the Stone age and famous landmarks built in the Stone Age. The children will be creating a fact file about Stone Henge.





Science
We will be continuing with our topic ROCKS AND SOILS. The children will be learning about volcanoes, lava and rock. The children will be observing an experiment to create  volcano using bicarbonate and vinegar.

Monday 8th September

Welcome to our blog. The children had a great few days back in school and have started to settle back into a routine. Well done to all those children who read at home and also who had a comment in  their diary.

During the first few weeks of term the children will continue to learn about routines and classroom rules.

Please remember that the Induction meeting will take place at 3pm on Tuesday the 8th September.

Swimming starts on Tuesday too for ten weeks. The children will need a swimming kit and towel.
Please remember that no bikinis or long shorts. 

Also we need lots of HELPERS. We can only go swimming if there are enough adult helpers.

Year 3 leave at 12.40pm and will be back for 3pm.
Year 4 leave at 1.40pm and will be back for approximately 3.30pm.

English
In English this week the children will be learning about capitals letters and  full stops again.

The children will be continuing with the RE topic HOMES. The children will be learning and thinking about the happy and sad times in a house, They will think about how a house turns into a home. They will be exploring the different types of homes.

We will be starting our new topic THE STONE AGE. The children will be introduced to the topic and learn some basic knowledge and factual information about THE STONE AGE. The children will be learning about when the Stone age was.
