Monday 30th June

Welcome to our blog spot this week. Please remember that we have set lots of activities on MY MATHS.

Trip to Gullivers

This week on Friday we are off to Gullivers and if slips have not been returned please could you do so as soon as possible. Please remember that we will be back late.

The children will need:

·         Drinks
·         Money
·         Waterproof coat if raining
·         Sun screen if sunny
·         Packed lunch in disposable bag.
·         No fizzy drinks or glass bottles.

Please make sure that your child has their PE kit in school . We will be practising for Sport’s day on the 11th of July  so the children need to have suntan lotion, hats and water bottles as the weather has actually improved.

MATHS

This week the children will be learning more about ADDITION, SUBTRACTION, DIVISION AND MULTIPLICATION and will be introduced to a new topic called ROMAN NUMERALS.

This week the children will be continuing with work on fraction:  ADDING AND SUBTRACTING FRACTIONS, cancelling fractions and  equivalent fractions.

ENGLISH

The children will be working on their extended writing techniques.
This week the children will be learning about the use of a COMMA in a subordinate clause, in speech and in a list of things.
The children will also be completing an assessed piece of writing to pass on to their next teacher.

RE Building Bridges
We will be continuing the topic BUILDING BRIDGES. We will be thinking about how relationships are broken and will be learning about sin and reconciliation.

Monday 23rd June

SPANISH WEEK

This week it is SPANISH WEEK.
The children will be making tortillas and experiencing Flamenco dancing on Friday. The children may come dressed up on Friday in traditional Spanish dress or wearing red and yellow. We hope to have a great week and be practising lots of Spanish as well as learning more about Spanish culture.

Well done to the year four who made their Holy Communion and Confirmation on Thursday night. The behaviour of the children was excellent. On Friday the children enjoyed their party and receiving their certificates in a special whole school assembly when they sat at the front of the hall dressed in their smart, beautiful clothes.

This week the children will be learning more about DIVISION and will be progressing onto the bus stop method of division. We will also be learning more about PERIMETER and be finding the perimeter of a variety of shapes.

YEAR FOUR HOLY COMMUNION AND CONFIRMATION 

Please remember that on Friday morning the children need to come in their Holy Communion clothes for photographs. Afterwards there will be a tea party and an assembly to present them with their certificates. The children may bring in board games to play with and a change of clothes - non uniform. Please remember to send in the refreshments either the day before or on Friday. Thank you.

Welcome to the final term. I am sure the children are looking forward to coming back to school. Hopefully the weather will be kinder to us and we can get outside more for PE lessons.

This week we will be reviewing subtraction. We have noticed from the recent exams that the children are still struggling a little bit with subtraction questions.

Therefore we will be reviewing :

ü  the mathematical vocabulary linked to subtraction.
ü  use columns to subtract.
ü  exchange a ten to subtract.
ü  can use a number line to find the difference.
