Monday 15 th September

Welcome to our blog and thank you for taking the time to read it. 

Homework will start at the end of this week. It will be sent home and will be collected in the following Thursday.

The children will have:
Sentences
Maths sheet
My maths
Reading.

Your child should have brought a my maths pass word home or will be bringing it home on Monday. There are five activities that can be completed anytime before the end of the first half term.

Swimming started on Tuesday for ten weeks. We have nine weeks left.
Thank you to all the helpers and we look forward to seeing you.
We can only go swimming if there are enough adult helpers.

Please remember that no bikinis or long shorts.
Year 3 leave at 12.40pm and will be back for 3pm.
Year 4 leave at 1.40pm and will be back for approximately 3.30pm.

Maths

This week we will be learning about different types of number sequences. We will be practising writing larger numbers and also ordering numbers. To find out more please see:


Maths

This week the children will be learning about rounding to the nearest 10, 100 and 100. Also the children will be learning about negative numbers.

English
In English this week the children will be learning about capitals letters and  full stops again.

The children will be completing a reading comprehension, learning about words with soft c in them. and will be writing a letter and using a volcano setting as a stimulus. The children will be editing the letter too to improve their writing.

We will be learning about more homophones.

The children will be practising their handwriting.
They will be practising:
·         Joining up.
·         Starting with a  flick on the line.
·         Writing on the line.
·         Using a consistent size of handwriting.

RE
Homes
The children will be continuing with the RE topic HOMES. The children will reading Paul’s letter to the Romans and relating this to family life. The children will be choosing words and phrases from the passage. The children will be making a leaflet about how to live in family life.

Topic
THE STONE AGE
We will be continuing with our new topic THE STONE AGE. The children will be learning about why it was called the Stone age and famous landmarks built in the Stone Age. The children will be creating a fact file about Stone Henge.





Science
We will be continuing with our topic ROCKS AND SOILS. The children will be learning about volcanoes, lava and rock. The children will be observing an experiment to create  volcano using bicarbonate and vinegar.
