Monday 4th February

Wow! February so soon. What a busy week! Thank you to all the children and parents who read three times last week.
In 3 / 4 H 36 % of children had been heard read three times last week.
37% in 3 / 4 MJ.
37 % in 3 / 4 S.

Let’s see if we can get it double this next week when we get into the routine of it.

MATHS
Mrs Sarsfield’s Group
We will be carrying on with DECIMALS, relating decimals to decimal fractions and ordering decimals to 2 decimal places. Also we will be creating number sequences by adding and subtracting 10, 100 or 1000 onto 4 and 5 digit numbers.

Mrs Morgan’s/Mrs Harding’s Groups
We will be starting a new topic on FRACTIONS. We will know the meaning of different vocabulary related to fractions such as denominator (bottom digit) and numerator (top digit.)
We will also be working out how to recognise fractions of shapes. We will be finding out how to find 1 / 4 by halving then halving again.

RE
JOURNEYS
We will be learning about the feast days of Our Lady. We will also be learning about the Jewish feast days. We will also be thinking how we can help people on their journey and putting these ideas in a footprint.

LITERACY
 We will be exploring the use of commas within sentences to mark clauses. We will be reviewing the use of inverted commas around direct speech. Writing a short story to put both pieces of punctuation into practice and we will also be completing a reading comprehension.

TOPIC
BRIGHT SPARKSWe will be making circuits and putting buzzers into circuits. We will also be investigating if magnets have anything to do with electricity too. Don’t forget our trip next Monday 11th February to the power station.

SPANISH

In Spanish we will be learning about houses and homes.
