Monday 25th February

Welcome to this week’s blog. We hope that you had a great holiday and are coming back refreshed. We will be starting homework again next week. Please remember that swimming starts on Tuesday afternoon. Year 3 will be a little late back. The children may bring goggles if they wish to use them.

READING
In Mrs Harding’s class 35% of children were heard read three times during the last week.
In Mrs Sarsfield’s 48% of children were heard read three times.
In Mrs Morgan’s  class 30% of children were heard read three times a week.

MATHS
Mrs Morgan/ Mrs Harding.
In these groups we will be continuing FRACTIONS. We will be learning about equivalent fractions more. We will be starting a new topic on NEGATIVE NUMBERS too this week.

This week we are focusing on doubling and halving techniques, learning to double and halve with quick recall by partitioning first. We will move from 2 digit numbers to 3 and 4 digit numbers which are multiples of 10. We will be learning to ignore the 0 at the end, then add it back on to arrive at the final answer. We will also be reviewing decimals and time.

LITERACY
We will be learning all about PRONOUNS. The children will be learning how to replace the nouns with pronouns.

RE
We are continuing with our topic – listening and sharing. This week we will be thinking about the importance of listening. What did you miss when you weren’t listening? What is it like not to be listened to? We will also be looking at the liturgy of the word and looking at Gospel stories.

This week we will be exploring if magnets have anything to do with electricity. We will also be putting lights and buzzers into a house thee children have made.

SPANISH

In Spanish we are reviewing greetings and learning about hobbies.
