Welcome back to a busy half term and to our blog. This week we will start to practise a few of the songs for our Christmas play in December. We will also be asking the year four children about play parts.

Homework

We will send out spellings and homework at the end of this week. The homework will need to be in the following Thursday please. The spellings will be tested on the Friday morning. We have noticed quite a few children not learning the spellings. 

The spellings we sent home in the last week were age related spellings and must be learnt off by heart. Thank you for your support in this.

 ENGLISH

This week we will be learning about playscripts.

We will be also learning about adding ing to words.

Doubling a letter and dropping the e.

We will also be completing a dictation when the children write down what is being said to them.

We test different concepts during this and use it to assess the children’s leaning.

For example – using two, too and to.

We will also be classifying different types of adjectives too. Adjectives linked to a fairy story or an adventure story.

MATHS Mrs Harding/ Mrs Morgan

The children will be working on addition and subtraction.

We will be practising column addition up to thousands, hundreds and tens and units.

We will be learning how to subtract with and without borrowing a ten.

They will be tested on their times tables on Thursday and we are concentrating on the eight and nine timetables.

The children will be working on time both analogue and digital. The children will start to learn about the twenty four hour clock too.

RE Promises

The children will be learning all about BAPTISM. The children will be learning all about the signs and symbols and will be watching a video about a baptism.

Topic

Bronze Age

The children will be learning how the Stone Age evolved into the Bronze Age. They will also be learning all about life and characteristics of the Bronze Age.
